MEM05048B Perform advanced welding using flux cored arc welding process is an advanced trade level unit in the MEM05, Metal and Engineering Training Package. This unit is available in Certificate III to Diploma Advanced Trade qualifications and a preliminary unit of competence leading towards AS 1796 - Certification of welders and welding supervisors.
This learner resource contains a number of topics specialising in flux cored arc welding (FCAW) of carbon, low alloy and stainless steel structures. Examples include FCAW safety; consumables used for FCAW carbon, low alloy and stainless steels, application of welding symbols, destructive weld tests and structural welding Standards. A number of selected practical jobs have been included to help learners develop the skills to weld steel plate and pipe sections in all positions. Weld quality is assessed to AS/NZS 1554:1 - Structural Purpose (SP).
