MEM05040 Perform advanced geometric development – Transitions is a trade level unit of competency in the MEM05, Metal and Engineering Training Package. This competency unit is available in Certificate III, IV and Diploma - Advanced Trade qualifications.

This learner resource aims to develop the knowledge and skill outcomes required to mark out transitional shape and intersections using advanced triangulation development techniques. Typical applications include fabrications used for ventilation, ducting, air-conditioning and domestic conical components such as hoods, funnels, flues, reducers, elbows etc. In addition, this resource aims to develop a learner’s ability to estimate and economically use material, determine specifications using calculations, identify and label points and lines on layouts and patterns, mark out templates and materials to form complex transitional shapes. A number of relevant practical jobs, practice drawing sheets and job instructions are included to simulate a range of industry applications using this method of geometric development.
